Is it a boy or a girl? The answer is both! Pantone, the international color institute, traditionally predicted the absolute trend color for the coming season. This year, the world-renowned authority on color did not reveal one, but two trend colors: Rose Quartz and Serenity.
According to Pantone, Rose Quartz is “a compelling yet friendly color expressing compassion and calm.” Serenity, on the other hand, is a cool blue color, that is “comforting and calming” and creates room to breath and relax, even in these troublesome times.
It’s not a coincidence that the two Pantone colors of 2016 are traditionally linked to the two genders. With the choice for these two colors as color of the year, Pantone hopes to challenge traditional perceptions of color association. The traditional gender ideas are up for discussion.
In your homes, Pantone advises to use a dash of Rose Quartz or Serenity in your carpets, furnishings or paint. You can easily combine each Pantone color with other colors, like green, purple, brown, and all types of yellow and pink. You can add silver or a bright color for an extra touch.
And you, would you use the Pantone colors of the year in your home interior?
